Slim fit Leg or Classic Leg trouser ?

Here at WISC we offer three different leg widths, Slim Leg, Medium or tailored leg and Classic leg. This way we can provide tight or loose fitting legs according to preference. The model in the picture is wearing MEDIUM LEG, but if you are still in doubt measure a pair of trousers that you own to confirm the leg size you want. Traditional moleskins had a wider flat front leg but more recently they have slimmed down to fit in with current fashion, and slim fit chinos have become more popular. For reference our leg widths are as follows:

Slim leg 13.5 inches
Medium or tailored leg 15.5 inches
Classic leg 17.5 inches

What Is Moleskin

Moleskin is a durable heavy cotton fabric, woven and then sheared to create a short, soft pile on one side. The feel and appearance of its nap is close to suede which makes it ideal for country trousers.

The Origins Of Moleskin

The origins of moleskin cloth are a little hazy but its use can be traced back to mediaeval Europe where the fabric was first made to be used by farmers and hunters who needed clothing that was comfortable, warm, durable, and wind resistant. Whilst the fabric is still often used in country pursuits including shooting, it is also now a common sight in towns and cities.

Washing your Moleskins

Our moleskin trousers are a mixture of 100% cotton with natural stretch and 97% cotton and 3% elastane, depending on colour. We recommend 30 degree or cool wash, or hand wash is desired followed by a medium iron heat. Do not tumble dry. Always take extra care to check the label on your clothes for origin and best washing instructions.

Share a Review your Moleskin Trousers

Here at WISC we love customer feedback so if you love your mens moleskin trousers, or indeed any items of clothing you have purchased from us then please leave us a review.

If you double this measurement you will have your waist size. If you have doubts with any items click and view our size guide. Taking this action will help us in our drive to sustainability which benefits everyone. The range of sizes possible with our create your own system is many thousands. Thank you for your help.

A Brief History of Moleskin Fabric

The origins of moleskin cloth are a little hazy but its use can be traced back to medieval Europe where the fabric was first made to be used by farmers and hunters who needed clothing that was comfortable, warm, durable, and wind resistant. The fabric is in fact a heavyweight cotton densely woven fabric sheared to create a unique feel. Our Moleskins have a small addition of elastane to enhance comfort and fit.

The fabric is a part of the group of fabrics known as fustians. The production of these fabrics was in the East Lancashire and West Yorkshire districts of England. The Calder Valley in West Yorkshire, in which Brisbane Moss is situated, had a high concentration of fustian weavers, dyers and finishers from the first half of the 19th Century. Within the last few decades virtually all of the companies engaged in this type of production have closed down, and Brisbane Moss is now the largest remaining stockhouse of both corduroys and moleskins in Great Britain. Today moleskins are a key part of mens fashion and offer excellent durability and warmth during the colder months

Finest Moleskin Cloth and Materials

As always we are committed to use only the finest fabrics to make the best moleskin trousers or moleskin pants as they are know as in the US. This starts with two cloths sourced from Brisbane Moss including their Barcelona collection which includes a small amount of elastane and their M25 collection which is 100% cotton but includes natural stretch. Both offer maximum comfort and mobility. We currently offer five colours as part of our Create Your Own Mens Moleskin Trousers but with a small surcharge we can offer the customer the full range of 11 stylish moleskin colour cloth shown below. The fabrics are of real beauty.

Our current range of moleskin cloth includes navy, stone, beige, brown and olive green. If you want a special colour note it can add an extra week to the delivery time

We also use the best buffalo horn buttons available, a YKK metal zip and a collection pure cotton luxury shirting fabrics for the front pockets and back pockets lining.

Country Trousers Made In England

Like all our clothing, our mens moleskin trousers are handmade individually to order at our Suffolk factory in England by experienced seamstresses who have a real passion for making the finest quality trousers money can buy that will last our customer wash after wash. The average time from order to dispatch is one week

The Perfect Fit Guaranteed by Creating Your Own Moleskin Trousers

We know how hard it can be to find the perfect fit when buying moleskin trousers as we all different heights, shapes and preferences. As a result two years ago we launched the Create Your Own Collection which started with chinos and has since expanded into Moleskin Trousers

With the option of 14 waist sizes available starting from 28 and going up to 46 we cater for a wide range of sizes including odd and even waist sizes. In addition we offer inside legs from 28" to 36" along with three leg options: slim leg, medium (our most popular) and classic for those who have big calves. The measurements are simply entered at our online shop on our website. The details are then passed on to the factory for cutting and sewing. This way you are sure to get the fit you need.

Measure Your Waist

When buying our luxury moleskin jeans or chinos, jeans & cording trousers always measure your own waist as sizes do vary from brand to brand. We cut our trousers to size while other brands in the industry are are involved in vanity sizing where the trousers can actually measure a 38" waist but have a 36" label inside. If you measure yourself you will get the perfect fit. Our measurements are in inches not cm. To avoid costly and environmentally undesirable returns, size is very important.
