History of preppy clothing
Preppy is short for preparatory schools in the United States. In the early 20th century wealthy families sent their children to the best private schools in the country. These very traditional institutions required their students to dress in traditional English school uniforms. This smart and neat dress code continued through to
Ivy League universities and onwards.
By the mid 20th century this mens preppy dress became synonymous with success and an aspiring American lifestyle. Fashion designs from brands including Tommy Hilfiger, Brooks Brothers and Ralph Lauren still incorporate this style into many of their collections.
The clothing by its very nature is classic and timeless. It looks as good worn today as it did many years before. This offers the wearer a great advantage in that they can assemble a wardrobe of quality pieces that will always look stylish.
As preppy clothing never goes out of fashion, there is a much stronger emphasis on quality materials and manufacturing as the clothing can always be worn. The length of the clothing is determined purely on how long it will last wash after wash, wear after wear. This styling helps us differentiate our clothing from what remains a crowded market place. That said the styling in many cases is often subtle, like a contrasting button or buttonhole on the shirt. For us it is imperative to never stray too far from the original identity of the clothing we design; otherwise we threaten to lose its core DNA.

At WISC all our clothing starts with the finest fabrics available as this not only ensures the products will last, but also feel amazing to wear and will drape beautifully. Great clothing always starts with great fabrics. Our fabrics are sourced from a variety of distinguished mills across Europe. This includes shirting fabrics, trousers cloths and water resistant outerwear fabrics.
Choosing the cloth is only the first part of the process. We also carefully source the finest interfacing, zips, linings and buttons to make each item of clothing.
Last but not least, all our clothing is traditionally hand cut and made at our Suffolk factory in England. We employ first class British tailors and seamstresses who have a wealth of knowledge and experience in producing only the very best British made clothing including shirts, jackets and coats. Our production process includes a number of additional steps which may not always be obvious on the finished clothing. However these stages not only ensure a first class finish, but also will guarantee none of the seams will fail and the clothing will last the test of time. Our clothing should be viewed as an investment for your wardrobe.

For our men’s shirts and jackets we offer a range of sizes between small and XXX large. With regards to our trousers we have our unique create your own trousers online. Washing instructions
When it comes to washing and caring for our shirts and trousers we always recommend a 30 degree wash with a quality washing product followed by ironing on the inside of the fabric on medium heat. Under no circumstances should you ever put any of our clothing in the tumble dryer. For best results hang straight from the washing machine.
For our coats and jackets we suggest using cold water and a sponge to remove any dirt. If you take them to a dry cleaners (which we do not recommend) beware that the jacket will most likely need to be reproofed afterwards.
