British Made Trousers | British Trousers Made in the UK By Paul Brown
British Made Trousers
In our latest blog, we discuss our British-made trousers collection. This includes twill chinos, corduroy and moleskin trousers, and denim jeans.
We are proud that all our men’s trousers are cut and made in England and the unique online service we offer our discerning customers. This includes the online equivalent of a made-to-measure service to guarantee the perfect fit every time.
Create Your Own Trousers
Many of us are too familiar with the struggles of finding a pair of chinos, jeans, or trousers that fit in the desired color. We all have different waist and inside leg measurements, yet most high street retailers only offer a small selection of sizes. Further, some of us prefer a slim leg, while others opt for a classic leg for maximum comfort. We sympathised with all men and finally decided to do something about it!
In 2017 we launched create your chinos online, where men could choose from an unparallel selection of waist and inside leg measurements. This includes hard-to-find odd waist sizes like 35” and inside legs from 28” up to 36”. We also offer three builds; slim, medium, and classic leg. In total, we offer men 200 unique combinations per color.
We strongly recommend that new customers measure their waist or a pair of trousers they own before buying. Unlike other trousers brands, we cut to actual size; there is no vanity sizing. Double-check your measurements to avoid disappointment, as the waist in many brands is bigger than the size label.
Made in England
To offer an online made-to-measure service, we cut and make all our trousers to order. We do not carry any stock. Each pair is marked by chalk and cut by hand. We use the best British tailoring to make each pair of trousers, which includes a mixture of new and old machinery. Many seams are double or triple-stitched to ensure they will never fail. The result is a first-class pair of trousers that will never disappoint you.
Smart Casual Trousers
Our trousers are what we would define as smart casual. They look equally great with a tailored shirt and trench coat or dressed down with one of our men’s polo shirts. Key features of our smart casual trousers are as follows:
Front slanted pockets
Rear double welt pocket with button fastened pocket flaps
Waistband with belt loops
Zip fly with waist button fastening
Twill Trousers
Our twill trousers or chinos remain our best-selling trousers and are available in ten colors, from classic French navy and tan chino colors to bolder options like red and white.
You will find that our twill trousers, corduroy trousers, and jeans all benefit from 3% elastane in the cloth. This may seem small, but it greatly affects the trousers' overall comfort and wear ability. They stretch in just the right places.
Our trouser cloths are all sourced from the coveted Yorkshire mill Brisbane Moss, world-famous for its moleskin and corduroy collections.
The quality of materials does not stop at the main fabric. We use the finest shirting cloth for the interior pocket lining, a front YKK zip, and real buffalo horn buttons.
When styling our British made twill trousers, we recommend pairing them with our men’s British made shirts or polo shirts. Try our navy chinos with a striped linen shirt or grey chinos with a light blue polo shirt.
Corduroy Trousers
Our Corduroy trousers are a good medium weight and perfect for wearing all year round. If your job is outside and freezing, we can order heavier weights up to 470 gsm for a small surcharge. We offer many popular colors, including black, navy, and purple.
About styling, we have two outfits for your consideration. Firstly we have our superb Khaki field jacket and gingham shirt paired with our beige cords. Secondly, we have our navy cords paired with our pink poplin shirt.
British Made Moleskin Trousers
, Unlike our twill or corduroy pants that have 3% elastane in them, our men’s moleskin trousers are 100% cotton. The fabric still benefits from ‘natural stretch,’ so you will find them equally comfortable. The cloth is a good all-round weight, but we can order in a heavier weight like the cords.
Regarding styling our moleskin trousers, consider our navy trousers with a purple shirt and beige trench coat or grey field jacket and wool tie.
Jeans
Last but not least, our jeans are available in grey and classic indigo blue. The blue is finished with traditional contrasting orange thread. Our smart jeans look great worn with our tailored shirts. Try our blue striped blue jeans and navy check shirt with grey jeans for a more formal style.
Caring for your trousers
We recommend a 30-degree or cold wash. Do not ever tumble dry, and for best results, hang the trousers straight from the washing machine. Iron on medium heat on the inside of the trousers.
Other British made clothing
In addition to our British made trousers, we also offer British made ladies' and men’s tailored shirts, jackets, and coats. Our extensive menswear collection includes boxer shorts, waistcoats, and polo shirts.
Conclusion
If you seek British-made trousers for smart casual occasions, you have visited the right company. We have been making quality British trousers and clothing for over a decade. Not only do we use the finest fabrics coupled with the best British tailoring, but we also offer a level of customization that will guarantee perfectly fitting trousers every time.
Price and Value
Our classic garments are always made in the UK from fine fabrics and are built to love and to last. They do not go out of shape or come apart after several washes so you can wear them again and again. Contrast this to much cheaper high street versions that end up stuck in your wardrobe after being worn just once, never to see the light of day as they were ill fitting or didn't survive the laundry. You pay a price up front but value is only apparent with the passage of time. The adage of ‘don't buy cheap, buy smart ‘fits here and you will do your bit for the environment as well.
Sustainability and Size
I cannot leave this blog without mentioning sustainability. It means many different things to many different people. It is well known that the fast fashion industry does enormous harm to the environment, particularly oil based fabrics and single use garments. You should consider this fact every time you shop for clothing. Here at WISC we make classic garments that are built to last from natural fabrics to help minimise our impact. They are designed to be worn again and again without losing their shape or appearance. Multiple use also means that they become value for money. We also make most of our products to order so that unwanted stock is never a feature. Size is also a factor in sustainability. If clothes fit well they will be used a lot and the issue of returns for ill fitting garments becomes redundant. We stress this on our site and in addition to an extensive detailed size guide, we offer a special ‘design your own trouser’ section for this very reason. If you generally purchase off the peg chinos for example and try to make them fit, why not visit our website with your measurements and we will make you a pair. Going forward we continue to look at ways of improving our sustainability credentials further. You should also always consider recycling or donating any clothes you really don't want or need.
