The pussy-bow blouse started its life in 1934 when the St Petersburg Times advertised a pattern for a collar that could be worn in four different ways. One of these versions included a pussy-cat bow tied under your chin which is where the blouse got its name from.
The blouse became a wardrobe during the 60’s thanks to its regular use in the collections of the top fashion houses. This included designers like Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent.
During the 70’s it became synonymous with high powered women in business and politics including former prime minister Margaret Thatcher. The blouse became the feminine alternative to a men’s traditional suit and tie. The blouse found the perfect balance between masculine work wear and femininity. Our white pussy bow blouse is made from an ultra soft Oxford cloth from famous shirting mill Soktas. It is one of our favourites. The 3% elastane makes the shirt extra comfortable to wear during the day. Other notable features include a split yoke for the shoulders and soft tailored single button cuffs.

Black Pussy Bow Blouse
Made from a luxurious poplin cloth with 3% elastane, our black pussy bow blouse is the most formal option of the three blouses we offer.
What would you wear the blouse with?
For the bottom half we recommend a nice skirt or trousers. In the photo we have paired the blouse with cream jeans. For layering we would again pair with our stone double breasted trench coat or a smart jacket.
How to tie a pussy bow blouse
One of the great benefits of the pussy bow blouse is that you can create a number of different bows and styles. Further some bows are better suited for particular shapes.
Option 1: The tight side bow
The tight side bow is a good option for those with a smaller bust as it draws the eye upward.
Option 2: The Centred Messy Bow
The perfect option for those with a big bust. Take one strand over and up. Use the bottom strand to create a loop. Take the top strand over the loop, around, and through to create a bow. Play around with the bow to make it messy.

White Blouse with Black Bow
Our white blouse with black bow is the more casual option of the three blouses. It uses the same Oxford cloth and tailored features as our white ladies shirt and collarless shirt. This includes a soft collar and single button cuffs.
The black bow is held through a loop under the collar stand which can be detached during washing and offers the wearer two different shirt styles for the price of one.
What would you wear the blouse with?
The benefit of this blouse is its sheer versatility. It can easily be dressed up or down and the black bow can be removed. As a result you have endless style options. If you want formal or work wear then consider a skirt or formal trousers. For more casual occasions like after work or the weekend consider a smart pair of jeans.

Caring for your long sleeve blouse
We recommend a 30 degree wash for your bow neck tops. Iron on the inside of the cloth on medium heat. Do not tumble dry and for best results hang straight from the washing machine.

Our ladies blouses are fitted and finished with two darts in the back for a nice shape round the waist. In the case of our blouses with bow at neck, all three use a cloth with 3% elastane. This helps the blouse stretch in just the right places and makes the blouses very conformable to wear during the day. If you prefer a more relaxed fit then we recommend going up one size. We offer our blouses from size 6 up to 20.

We use only the finest Gutermann thread to make each blouse coupled with small single needle stitching throughout. You will not find any over locking on any of our ladies or men’s shirts!
