In order to be the best you need to start with quality materials. The old saying “put good in, get good out” always rings true when it comes to clothing. This is especially true for men’s trousers and chinos which take a huge amount of wear and tear every time they are worn.

The first part is of course the base cloth which for chinos can be 100% cotton, a cotton and elastane blend, 100% polyester or some sort of polyester blend. If you are seeking the very best chinos then go with either 100% cotton or cotton with elastane. The elastane is usually only 3% but allows the trousers to stretch in just the right places which makes them far more comfortable to wear than the 100% cotton version. Further if you prefer a slim leg then the elastane is really important.

Our men’s chinos are 97% cotton with 3% elastane. We source our cloth from coveted British trouser and jacket mills Brisbane Moss. Our collection includes over ten colour options covering two weights; 215gsm and 250gsm. The lighter weight can be found in the brighter chinos including red, yellow and tobacco. Both weights should be viewed as medium trouser cloth weights. Not too light, but also not really heavy. A good choice to be worn all year round. If you do require a really light or heavy weight chino cloth please don’t hesitate to get in touch as we do have access to other weights. To make the best chinos you need the best fabric. For our chinos there is no expense spared in sourcing the remaining materials that make up a good pair of men’s chinos. This includes using the finest shirting fabrics for the pocket linings along with a YKK zip for the front fly and finished with real buffalo horn buttons. These buttons really do last the test of time and are superior to plastic buttons which are more prevalent among low end chinos. Last but not least we always use only the highest quality threads from Coats and Gutermann; both the leading industrial thread companies in the world.

A Thoughtful great design

With quality materials, the next part is a thoughtful chino design. No pair of chinos is the same. Some are more casual and are closer to cargo pants for example. Others are tailored and more closely resemble formal trousers. We would define our chinos as smart, casual. This means they are really versatile in that they can be dressed up or down and can be worn for almost any occasion from work wear, weekend or for a special occasion like a wedding. If you want value for money it is better to choose a design that can cover all the bases really well.

Traditional features incorporated into our design include front slanted pockets. Traditional double welt pockets for the rear finished with buttoned pocket flaps. These flaps are more than just a design feature. They have an important purpose in that they stop the rear welt pockets from sagging which looks unsightly. If you prefer a cleaner look you can always tuck them inside the welt pocket, but make sure they are fastened when you wash and hang them.

The waistband includes traditional belt loops so you always have the option to add a belt which is a great accessory to break up any outfit. Never underestimate the value of a good contrasting belt to any men’s outfit.

Make sure you measure yourself

While we offer a first class service, it is really important that customers measure themselves or a pair of chino or trousers they currently own when they shop with u. Our chinos and trousers are cut to size. Do not assume the size label inside any of your current chinos or pants are correct! Many brands both here in the UK and America are now actively involved in vanity sizing where the waist can be as much as two inches bigger than the size label. To avoid disappointment, be safe and measure yourself before making your first purchase.

The answer is simple; we hand cut and make all our chinos at our factory in Suffolk England. Each pair is made to order. We don’t carry stock. This is not only true for our chinos, trousers and jeans, but also all our British made clothing that you will find on this website. Our clothing is proudly made in England.
